I heard this song at the end of an episode of True Blood and fell in love with it. I love that Cary Ann Hearst has an irreverent punk type vocal accompanied by a country style of musical arrangement with a killer rhythm. This song is ridiculously fun to blare in your car while cruising down the road. I am looking forward to hearing more from this artist now that I have discovered her!

I never really thought of Darius Rucker as a country artist... maybe Burger King was ahead of the curve. (See the commercials he was in awhile back.)
Regardless Darius is a pretty phenomenal country guy. I fell in love with this song after the 1st listen. It's weird because it's not anything real special, just very catchy and has an awesome chorus. It hooked me straight up.
Even though some of the lyrics are silly, they still make me smile and I like a guy who doesn't take everything too seriously. Worth a listen for sure!

I discovered this song a few months ago and have since begun an obsession of sorts with Josh Ritter's music. This song nearly brings me to tears as his lyrics are so overwhelmingly descriptive.
"The Curse" is an imaginative love story that draws you in. I highly recommend listening to this song with your eyes closed. Really focus on the words and the dynamics of the song. I dare you not to be moved or at the very least interested. :)
The musical arrangement reminds me of a circus or side show event. I adore the use of horns in this arrangement as well.

This song has become one of my favorite Ellis Paul songs in just a couple of days. This song MAKES me so happy. LITERALLY. I can not be unhappy when I listen to this song. It brings so much joy to my mind, body, and soul.
It is hard to even describe the effect it has on me. There are few artists that evoke that kind of emotion from me. But Ellis hits that button consistently. :)
The happy lil banjo at the beginning kicks this song in the right direction for joyousness! And the lyrics remind you to appreciate all the miracles surrounding us on a daily basis. We so often trudge in our own selfish sadness and depression and forget how much good there really is out in the world. Goodness knows in today's world we need to hang on to whatever miracles and happiness we encounter.
If you feel that stress than you need to do yourself a favor and purchase "The Day After Everything Changed.". This entire album is so amazing and crafted so beautifully. It was worth the wait as usual. I have been listening to practically nothing else. Guaranteed it will not be my last pick from this new Ellis masterpiece. :D

Glenn and I were lucky enough to snag one of the pre-sale copies of "The Day After Everything Changed" by Ellis Paul. All of these particular pre-sales were also autographed! So neat for die hard fans like Glenn and myself. :)
We got a sample of this song in the spring of this year when we saw Ellis in concert in Eugene, Oregon at Sam Bond's Garage Pub. This song strikes such a deep emotional chord within me. Every time I hear it this song nearly bring tears to my eyes. Knowing how deep of a connection you can have with someone and knowing the torment of having to be away from them when all you want is to wrap your arms around them and take in their heat and their smell and forget everything else.
Makes you wonder... Why is love such a strong emotion? Why do some of us have to love so hard? So completely? So genuine and honestly? It's truly a mystery to me...
For me this song reminds me to just cherish those moments while they are there. You never know when those moments or that person you love might disappear. Enjoy the "NOW" moments. Tomorrow will bring what it will bring. You can't regret your yesterdays. You must move forward. But treasure the time you have right now. Take those happy, private, precious, amazing moments and savor them. Tuck them into your heart and remember them when you feel sad or alone.

Every time this track comes on the Ipod I keep thinking I need to pick this song on my top 10K blog... and so, here I am finally doing so.
I had the pleasure of meeting Levi Weaver when he played a show here in Spokane at The Empyrean coffee house in April of 2008. My hubby opened up for him. :)
The lyrics to this song are so incredibly captivating and brilliant they truly speak for themselves as to why this song is so amazing. :)

So this has been Zombieland weekend for me having gone to see this movie in theaters 3 times in the last 2 days. Yeah it is seriously that good. Yeah there might be some blood and guts, but it's nothing gratuitous and the acting and humor involved just make the movie amazing to me.
This song is playing in the background during one of the few tender moments in the film and I fell in love with it instantly. It appears The Droge and Summers Blend is a boyfriend/girlfriend singer/songwriting duo. Pete Droge and Elaine Summers both sound fantastic in this soft and romantic song. The playing is nearly magical in it's execution. Lots of bright and twinkling moments that encourage you to imagine yourself dancing under the stars...

Especially for it's time this song is so damn sexy! I was appreciating this song all over again while playing Beatles Rock Band and as I sang the lyrics I realized what a hot lil number this song is.
The bluesy guitar riffs and rhythm just give this composition a sultry vibe that was quite inventive and modern for the era.

I have been super lazy with my top 10K list but never fear, I am not finished!
So this Ida Maria CD is probably one of the best albums I have listened to in a LONG time. I love every song on the album so I am certain this will be one of MANY I choose by this awesome lady.
Stella is raw and amazing. Ida's vocals are so fierce on this track. I adore the way her vocals crack at the very end of the song.
This lady is one talented artist and one I truly hope sticks around for a good long time. She reminds me of Pat Benatar, Patti Smith from The Pretenders, and maybe even a little Kim Carnes. I love chick vocals that have that rough raspy edge!

I have been meaning to pick this song for ages... well, meaning to pick ANY song for ages but this one especially. :)
This song is just so fun and romantic and freakin' adorable!
Glenn and I had the pleasure of seeing Sondre Lerche open up for Elvis Costello a few years back and he was very good and enjoyable at the time but over time he has really seemed to mature as an artist and we have grown to really love a HUGE portion of his catalog. And Regina Spektor is such an amazing vocalist herself and brings SO much personality to this song it is just a fantastic pairing. Regina is making quite a name for herself and is probably better known than Sondre presently...

I had really forgotten how much I adore this song until Glenn played it for me a couple months ago and now I am slightly obsessed with how much I adore this track.
The lyrics are smart and nicely arranged and I love the rhythm.

I just heard this band, Kingston, for the first time this morning and this song reminds me of how I felt about The Kooks the first time I heard them. According to their MySpace profile they have not released and album yet and are unsigned. I can't imagine they'd stay unsigned for long! Their music is really fun and energetic! I really enjoy their arrangements.

I just heard this band, Kingston, for the first time this morning and this song reminds me of how I felt about The Kooks the first time I heard them. According to their MySpace profile they have not released and album yet and are unsigned. I can't imagine they'd stay unsigned for long! Their music is really fun and energetic! I really enjoy their arrangements.

Glenn wrote this song to assist in a surprise marriage proposal for his good friend in Atlanta. The song was written with the inspiration that his friend had met his lady friend on OKCupid.com and his friend was using the songs to help him surprise her with the proposal. It was all quite romantic and wonderful And Glenn created an awesome song out of the whole thing that I think is one of my personal favorites he has ever written.

Glenn, once again as with so many songs I list here, introduced me to this awesome song and I groove to it every time! Not a well known band but they sure created a winner with this song!
The style of music is very hit and miss with me, I am selective regarding this genre, but this is one of the most awesome "ear worms" I have ever heard!!!

For such an eye catching title this little ditty is a happy sounding little song. The arrangement reminds me a lot of The Carpenters song "Close To You."
Glenn and I were listening to this song while putting away laundry last night and Glenn said, "I bet you love this song... it is almost like an anthem for you." Some days.... yeah. :P
It is just an incredibly fun song to listen to and it puts me in a good mood...

I recently discovered Iron & Wine (a.k.a. Sam Beam)having heard this specific song on the movie "Twilight" which I personally loved. (The movie and the book series.)
I know nothing of this amazing artist but am certain that will be changing shortly as this live performance, just blew me away!!!
As strange as the lyrics may seem they are quite intriguing and oddly romantic. The words are extremely dreamy and romantic when coupled with this genius musical arrangement. You must give it at least one listen.
It sounds like you threw some oldies doo-whop and some classic folk music in a bag, shook it up, and viola! Magical music!!! :D

Glenn and I were both completely floored the other day when we realized that neither of us had chosen this song on our top 10,000 blogs. Seriously... this is one of my all time favorite Ellis songs. This is one of the most wonderfully romantic songs I have ever heard.
The lyrics that grab you are:

So I discovered this song on one of my goood friends MySpace profiles and LOVE it! It reminds me of The Munsters TV show theme in a way.
I have never heard April March's music before that I know of but am familiar with some projects she has apparently been a part of in the past according to her wikipedia profile.
The song is just fun and retro sounding and I really enjoy it. Once I found it I had to listen to it at least 5 times in a row! Check it out on this YouTube clip.
