DAY 433
Ellis Paul - "Chief Joseph"
From "The Hero In You"
Anyone who knows me knows my adoration for Ellis Paul. I have grown to truly love this song, "Chief Joseph" in part because of the memories I can recall from seeing Ellis perform it earlier this year at the 3 shows Glenn and I were fortunate enough to catch in Portland, Ore., Seattle, Wa., & Eugene, Ore., but this song has become a song I go to when I need to obtain peace.
This song's gentle entry builds into a strong and hopeful pledge to always strive for peace in the face of adversity. It reminds me to also consider my problems more realistically... I can meet my challenges with kindness, thoughtfulness, forgiveness, and poise because what I face is so small compared to many of those before me.
"From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever, we will all remain together, from where the sun now stands."
-Amen

Day 432 - Band of Horses - No One's Gonna Love You
DAY 432
Band of Horses - "No One's Gonna Love You"
From "Cease To Begin"
I have been completely in love with this song almost to the point of obsession since I heard it. Band of Horses originally formed in 2004 in Seattle which always makes me smile to discover fellow Washingtonians with such astounding musical talent. Ben Bridwell's vocals are charming yet ethereal. The song's arrangement is eerie but inviting and is accompanied by very relatable lyrical content. I have a soft spot for heart breaking love songs and this songs fills every nook and cranny of that description. I love the slight switch in arrangement at the 1:50 mark in the song. It is music that speaks to your soul if you let it.

Day 431 - Cary Ann Hearst - "Hell's Bells"
DAY 431
Cary Ann Hearst - "Hell's Bells"
From "Lions and Lambs"
I heard this song at the end of an episode of True Blood and fell in love with it. I love that Cary Ann Hearst has an irreverent punk type vocal accompanied by a country style of musical arrangement with a killer rhythm. This song is ridiculously fun to blare in your car while cruising down the road. I am looking forward to hearing more from this artist now that I have discovered her!
