Day 184 - Ellis Paul - Maria's Beautiful Mess

DAY 184
Ellis Paul – "Maria's Beautiful Mess”
From "Ellis Paul Live"

Between "Here She Is", (which was my first pick on my top 10,000 favorite song list), and this song, "Maria's Beautiful Mess" Glenn says he finds the best ways to describe me through someone else's song. That is really cool to me since I am such an avid Ellis Paul fan.

This song is fabulously descriptive, romantic, and gorgeous. A must hear for any folk music lover for sure.

This YouTube clip is a great example of how amazing this man sounds in his live performances.

On a side note this really cool news came out today through the Ellis Paul fan boards and I am posting it everywhere as this is a pretty big deal for Ellis. Check it out:

Karen Z and Ellis beat the Wikipedia odds!!

Dear Friends of Ellis.... Over the course of a decade of managing Ellis Paul, I have been surrounded by a number of very enthusiastic, skilled and competent fans who have helped spread his music all around the globe. One of these folks is Karen Zundel from Pittsburgh, Pa.

Karen has been working tirelessly on writing an Ellis Paul article for Wikipedia over the past several months. On Feb. 23, 2007, the article received the Feature Article rating - the highest rating in Wikipedia. At that time, the article was nominated to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page. The Main Page receives nearly 3 million unique visits each day.

Karen and I are happy to report that the Ellis Paul article has been selected to appear on the Wikipedia Main Page TOMORROW, Tuesday, May 22, 2007.

To put this into some perspective, at this time there are:

1,785,823 articles in Wikipedia
1398 of those have achieved the rating Feature Article
94 of those Feature Articles are in the category Music
35 of those Music Feature Articles are biographies
(Only) 3 of those music biographies are folk musicians: Bob Dylan, Nick Drake and Ellis Paul.

In the history of Wikipedia, only one folk musician has ever been featured on the Main Page: Bob Dylan - on May 17, 2004.

This coming Tuesday, May 22, 2007, Ellis Paul will be the second folk musician ever to be featured. I am thrilled and humbled at the prospect of not only bringing attention to Ellis Paul, but to folk music in general, and hopefully to many of the artists mentioned within the article.

The Main page link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Please pass along this information to anyone who you think may be interested... Thanks to Karen and all the fans of Ellis who work hard to spread the music...

Best Regards,

Ralph Jaccodine
manager
