Poison – "Something To Believe In”
From "Flesh and Blood"
Don't know why, but this song just jumped in my head. I really enjoy the lyrics to this song and the arrangement. One of the better tracks on this album really...
This is kinda a cool video.... check it out...

DAY 216
Garth Brooks – "Hard Luck Woman”
From "Kiss My Ass: Classic Kiss Regrooved"
I was talking to a friend at work about this song today when the electricity went out due to a big windstorm. It reminded me of how cool this song is, so I decided to pick it today.
Check out this clip of Garth Brooks performing the song with Kiss on YouTube.

DAY 215
The Cult – "Painted On My Heart”
From "Gone In 60 Seconds (2000 Film) [SOUNDTRACK]"
I am VERY selective on the songs I really like by The Cult, but this song hit me just right the first time I heard it.... the vocal stylings hit me as gothic in a way... I like the industrial edge to the song as well... I really like the sliding guitar parts as well....
Check out the song/video here.

Day 214 - Garth Brooks - Unanswered Prayers
DAY 214
Garth Brooks – "Unanswered Prayers”
From "No Fences"
So I am not a huge country fan, this is true, however, there are those select gems that really creep into my ears and make me enjoy and listen. This is one of those songs.
This tune is just so heartfelt and honest. I enjoy the way Garth sings it and the orchestration. I have had mixed feelings on Garth Brooks as a performer, but all in all I think he is a very genuine soul which the public recognized and latched on to and the record industry cashed in on. A lot of the publicity he has gotten has not been positive, but I think he has come out smelling a little fresher than expected.
This performance really shows how much he enjoys performing and how much fun he has with his fans. It really is refreshing to see a performer appreciate their audience.

Day 213 - Ellis Paul - Did I Ever Know You?
DAY 213
Ellis Paul – "Did I Ever Know You?”
From "Translucent Soul"
I seriously believe I may likely pick every Ellis Paul song known to the world on this top 10,000 list. Just a guess.. :P
I adore this Ellis Paul song, it is one of his finest stories in my opinion.... It takes you into an era of a relationship that has evolved and changed over time.
It speaks of simpler times and reminds you to take a step outside of the jaded nature that we develop over time and remember where you came from.
Never forget, never regret...

Day 211 - Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
DAY 211
Tracy Chapman – "Fast Car”
From "Tracy Chapman"
Of all of Tracy Chapmans songs this one if my favorite. The story she tells within the song and the emotions that shine through as she sings just go straight to your soul.
She brings the power into the song at just the right points which just draws you further into the story.
This song is so relatable just because of the description of young love... the way it starts out and the reality that slowly sinks in as we mature, learn, and grow as people.

DAY 209
Electric Light Orchestra – "Wishing”
From "Discovery"
I remember the first time I heard this song very clearly. Glenn and I were living in Pullman, WA., and he was having a vinyl moment. I was watering the yard at our house in the "Golden Hills" community when he called out the window, "Rach, you are gonna love this song..."
He was right. I fell in love with it at that moment.
The chorus is the clincher.
There is a certain quality to Jeff Lynne's voice that is very pleasing to my ears.... his music makes me happy... :)

Day 206 - Bif Naked - Lucky
DAY 206
Bif Naked – "Lucky”
From "I Bificus"
I have not heard near enough of this ladies music but I do own this album. I actually bought it after hearing just one song. This track became one of my favorites. It is one of the few ballads on the album.
"Lucky" is such a deep emotional kind of song. Her vocals are so strong in certain parts that it really gave me chills the first time I heard it and has continued to do so. I love her lyrical writing style. The words she chooses to put in her songs are odd in that you don't expect them really at all. In a lot of songs you can pretty much guess the lyrical pattern but this gal is an exception to that rule, I think.
See the video here... it is very visually stimulating and interesting.

Alias – "More Than Words Can Say”
From "Alias"
Cheesy lyrics, cheesy arrangement, really cheesy video, but what can I say... I love cheese! Hahaha! :)
I loved this song so much when it first came out.... I had the biggest crush on the lead vocalist... he was peeeerty... :P
Just a typical hair band ballad that made all of us girls swoon back in the day. :P

Day 201 - Steely Dan - Deacon Blues
DAY 201
Steely Dan – "Deacon Blues”
From "Aja"
This song has been running through my head for the last few days so I decided I need to pick it now because, well, if it gets stuck in your head in a good way, it must be a favorite, right? ;)
Steely Dan has such a jazzy rock vibe... very mellow and laid back... they are great to listen to when you just wanna sit back and be chill...
"Deacon Blues" has so many different shades within the song and I think that is the main attraction for me... it starts out as kind of a poppy and "unnoticeable" track, sort of generic almost, but when the chorus kicks in it just "HAS" you for the rest of the song...
I was unable to find a good performance of the song, but research it and listen... it is certainly worth while.

DAY 200
The Beatles – "In My Life”
From "Rubber Soul"
200! Woot... this is a milestone of many on this journey to 10,000...
So I felt compelled to pick a song that really moves me... "In My Life" is definitely one of those songs.
Glenn plays this song from time to time and the Halfracks, (Glenn's main band), actually performed this song at their most recent show. It was unrehearsed but very fun.
It is bands and musicians like this that keep these songs alive. All of the little people who are so in love with these tunes will never let them fade away...
A fan made a nice video of the original Beatles version of the song on YouTube you should check out.

Day 196 - Big Mountain - Baby I Love Your Way
DAY 196
Big Mountain – "Baby I Love Your Way”
From "Reality Bites: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack"
Man I am having trouble getting my daily song picks in, I coulda swore I picked my song yesterday... oh well. on we go...
I do be lovin' me some reggae! And this being one of my favorite songs I was very cool with this version of this classic Peter Frampton tune. I think Big Mountain did an excellent job with this song. It is fun and danceable with a fun reggae edge.... I give it a thumbs up effort!
I first heard this song on the Reality Bites: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
Here is the video on YouTube. Check it out!

Day 194 - Seduction - Breakdown
DAY 194
Seduction – "Breakdown”
From "Nothing Matters Without Love"
Okay so it is not that I am exactly big on this "group." But this song holds happy memories for me.
I can remember singing it with my sister in our bedroom and doing the fast rap part. We knew every line! We thought we were so cool... especially since we were not really into rap... and we could do it... it made us feel a weird sense of accomplishment... well at least I think it did. :P
That is a really fun memory of she and I...
This album was released in September of 1989... man I was only 12 years old! *LOL* Good times... as always...
