DAY 381
Frontalittle Squad - "Saving Throw"
This is my all time favorite Frontalittle (FAL) Squad track. A seriously kick ass nerdcore "rap" performed by myself and several other nerdy rappers with varying degrees of talent and ability. I think that is the draw of FAL Squad... anyone is welcome to participate regardless of ability as long as you have the drive to participate and make it fun that is all you really need.
This track is so fun because it reminds me of when I used to play D&D as a youngster. Good times... :) so many hilarious memories... I never played until I was about 15 or so... It was almost more of a creative writing game between the folks I would play with. It was just a fun time and we never took it too seriously.
I remember I was especially proud of myself on this track because I was the only female rapper, and I wrote the majority of my verse by myself. (Normally Glenn has to help me get the proper words and arrangements as my rap abilities are lacking.) :P
Everyone did awesome on this track but I have to say my cousin Jeff and my good friend Hoblit have a couple of my personal favorite verses.
Check out the FAL Squad MySpace to hear this track and several others the Squad has put together. Fun stuff...

Day 380 - America - You Can Do Magic
DAY 380
America - "You Can Do Magic"
From "A View from the Ground"
This song just popped into my head tonight and it felt right to pick it today.
I adore the band America and am surprised I have not picked more by them yet... I will be sure to rectify that going forward. ;)
Oh how I long for the day of average looking musicians who make amazing music. I so love the harmonies in this song. The arrangement is fantastic! The video is really hilarious but great at the same time. They did not have a lot to work with visually back then so they had to rely more on talent and song writing ability... it is nice to remember this kind of music. Plus I grew up on songs like this so it takes me back a lil too. ;)
Check out the Wikipedia on America (the band.) It is interesting.

DAY 379
Hall and Oates - "Man on a Mission"
From "Do it For Love"
This is such a romantic song, but you wouldn't necessarily expect that if you listened to the arrangement alone. It has a kicky, upbeat vibe rather than a sappy style. I love it.

DAY 378
Inner Cirle - "Sweat (A La La La La Long)"
From "Bad Boys"
This is one of my all time favorite reggae songs! Especially to dance to!
The beat is so happy and fun!
The lyrical content is really sexy and intimate but arranged in such a creative and non-offensive manner one really does not notice the intense nature.
I adore songs that are super fun and light and this song really give me a charge!
Check out this incredibly awesome song/video on this YouTube clip.

Day 377 - Fergie - Clumsy
DAY 377
Fergie - "Clumsy"
From "The Dutchess"
So I am going to do the unthinkable and pick one of my more recent "guilty pleasure" songs. I never thought I would pick a song by Fergie, but this song has a cute and catchy chorus and I really enjoy it.
I do not care so much for the distorted vocal parts of the song especially at the end, but it still rings a certain charm that has grown on me. :P
Can't help it... girl can't help it.... this girlie likes what she likes... :P

Day 376 - The Bastard Fairies (featuring Hitchmo) - Whatever
DAY 376
The Bastard Fairies (featuring Hitchmo) - "Whatever"
Just heard this song and it cracked me up so much I had to pick it today.
The singing is not exactly on key, but I think that is very much intentional on this specific performance. The lyrics are just funny and smart. It kind of reminds me of a local band here in town, Buffalo Jones. (Glenn used to play with them.)
Very creative and fun. The video reminds me of our house when all our musician friends get together for silly jam sessions..... good times... :)

Day 375 - Brenton Wood - Oogum Boogum
DAY 375
Brenton Wood - "Oogum Boogum"
From "Brenton Wood's 18 Best"
Glenn and I were talking about this song a little earlier as we went out to purchase gifts for each other as Valentine's Day is not a real important holiday to us, but it gave us a nice excuse to spoil each other a little bit this time around.
I could have sworn that we had been discussing and listening to this song last night, but now I wonder if I dreamed it, because Glenn doesn't remember that. So, I figured it was a sign that I should pick it tonight, as I have adored this song since I was a small child.
I love that the lyrics are totally silly and weird. I love that the groove is a great example of the most stellar fun you can have dancing to a song.

DAY 374
Shootys Groove - "L Train"
From "High Definition"
Glenn and I were jamming to this song earlier tonight in the car and I knew it was time to pick it on my list!
I have adored this song ever since the first time I heard it. The chorus has the most killer hook and your body begs to groove to it! I actually heard the song the first time while watching the video. The drummer made me just fall in love with this band... he is such a big adorable dude... and a video that features break dancing SWAT Teams? That is just awesome!

Day 373 - Oasis - Cast No Shadow
DAY 373
Oasis - "Cast No Shadow"
From "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?"
I have been neglecting my top 10,000 the last few days... just been very busy between getting things repaired on the house, having a performance to do, visiting family, and getting automobiles repaired... a little more than the usual craziness...
So I have been meaning to pick this song for the last couple days. I really enjoy the mellow vibe of this track. Glenn and I also enjoy performing this song together. A lot of the harmonies in Oasis songs are really incredible and that is probably why we enjoy singing them so much.
Oasis is a band that had so much incredible potential but really screwed themselves because of massive ego, or so it seemed to the public eye... which was such a shame because if they could have gotten past that garbage they probably could have contributed a lot more to the music world...
Check out the song on this YouTube clip... It is really an amazing song.

DAY 372
Phantom Blue - "Time To Run"
From "Built To Perform"
This song just rocks hard. I absolutely LOVE the way these women pull off the harder rock style...
Gigi Hangach's vocals are so strong and commanding. And the guitar solo really grabs you to. Something about a chick who can shred. That is just bad ass. :)
Check out the song and video on this YouTube clip. Seriously awesome!

DAY 371
Belinda Carlisle - "I Feel The Magic"
From "Belinda"
I was in the car running errands with Glenn and was enjoying my last Belinda Carlisle pick on one of our top 10,000 CD's and thought about how much I loved this song especially when I was younger.
It has that fun 1950's pop feel to it that makes you wanna dance!
You just wanna clap your hands and have fun with it. It is silly but a great upbeat little tune that 22 years later I still love. :)

Day 370 - Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
DAY 370
Jeff Buckley - "Hallelujah"
From "Grace"
I was rather surprised this morning to realize I had not picked this song yet. Glenn and I were waking up and watched a performance by KD Lang on Good Morning America where she was singing this song, "Hallelujah", I could not find THAT performance, but did come across a different performance of her singing the song and it was absolutely breath taking on both versions. (And I am not a huge KD Lang fan, but she sounded fantastic. You could really see the emotion in her as she sang it was really wonderful to watch.)
Jeff Buckley's version of the song was the first I had ever heard and is my favorite thus far. His voice was fragile but so strong and beautiful. The song is very deep and emotional anyway, but his delivery just affects you in a way that is almost indescribable. It is a tragedy that he died so young as I am sure his contributions to the music world would have continued to amaze us.
I really enjoy the album version of the song, but this YouTube clip is also an amazing performance as well.
Leonard Cohen was the talented man who wrote the song... here is a clip of Leonard singing the song.

Day 369 - Avril Lavigne - Things I'll Never Say
DAY 369
Avril Lavigne - "Things I'll Never Say"
From "Let Go"
I have been trying to place this song in my head for a couple of days trying to remember where I heard it or who it was by. I kept remembering the "Blow you away" lyric and getting it mixed up with the song "Angry Johnny" by Poe with the same lyric, but the styles of song were so different I knew it was a very different song and artist.
This song is just a cute and fun tune. Nothing too deep but very real and relatable in a younger sense... Avril has her good and not so good points, but I think this song is a higher point.
Check out the song on this fan made YouTube clip... it is a fun one to dance to especially during the chorus!
