DAY 25
Daniel Powter – “Song 6”
From Daniel Powter
I am a bit tired so I will keep this shorter than I had originally anticipated. This is my favorite song of the moment. I don’t know why but Daniel Powter strikes me as a genuine artist that was lucky enough to catch the ear of somebody important in the music biz.
Much like Mr. John Mayer. He sings with passion, he seems fearless, he is very obviously talented vocally and musically. He is the whole package in my opinion.
This song is SO groovable and even though the lyrics seem semi cryptic it does not take an ounce of anything away from the fun genius of the track. I have listened to this track about 6 or 7 times tonight and it makes me feel so happy.
So tonight we consumed Daniel Powter inspired chicken enchiladas. They were a little spicier than I usually make. Was it me, was it Daniel? The world may never know…

Day 24 - Merisan - I Don't Want To Be Your Friend
DAY 24
Merisan – “I Don’t Want To Be Your Friend”
From Merisan
Today’s choice is a fabulously romantic track by my friends Erin and Sam, as Merisan.
As we all know I think Erin is a Goddess and Sam insanely talented and wonderful as well. (Sam and Erin are also part of Tiny Robots with Ken Mahru.)
This song is such a touching love song.
My absolute favorite part is when they very deliberately sing the line, “Sitting close to me,” and the other vocal sings, “Sitting close to you.” That just grabs me for some reason. I can just envision the moments described in this song. Two friends that have always cared for each other but discover true feelings of romantic love… Ahhh... amore!
I remember when Sam and Erin were planning to sing this song together at Song Fight Live in Santa Cruz, CA., and they asked if they should sing that line the same way live and I insisted that yes they needed to cuz it was my favorite part.
When they played this track live it was just as beautiful if not more beautiful than the recording.
Hearing and seeing them perform this song together was just breath taking and stunning.

Day 23 - Devon Sproule - Plea For A Good Night's Rest
DAY 23
Devon Sproule – “Plea For A Good Night’s Rest”
From Upstate Songs
Little indie label Devon Sproule. Why this little gal is not gigantic is beyond me. Probably too talented and genuine for today’s popular music scene.
It is sad in a way that AMAZING musicians/songwriters like Devon go undiscovered by the masses, but in a way I feel like I have discovered this unknown treasure that has yet to be spoiled by the media.
I discovered Devon’s music through the almighty My Space. I took the time to go through her website. I fell in love. She is simply wonderful. Unbelievable harmonies and lyrics. Just an amazing folks/country/blue grass singer/songwriter/musician/talent. This lady covers most the bases.
My song pic for today is the very first song I heard from Devon.. My favorite line in this incredibly beautiful song is, “There is smoke to kill, mosquito’s waiting just above to drink our blood, and gas in the lamp that we light when the sun goes down. My love wakes shaking with nightmares, and the night air pulls in close around…” It goes on to lyrics just as unique and intriguing. She is truly amazing and I have every intention of collecting all of her material.

Day 22 - Ellis Paul - If You Break Down
DAY 22
Ellis Paul– “If You Break Down”
From The Speed of Trees
My selection today is by my musical hero Ellis Paul. This song depicts what I feel my closest friends or my husband are to me and what I am or try to be to them if one of us has a heavier load than another. Just being there for those you care about however you can. This is a song that reminds us we don’t have to go it alone. The lyrics say it best:
So you've come to a day
where you wish the clocks
went backwards
in the cover of night
you're asking the stars to stay
asking satellites
to stop and help you to remember
how to picture the world
before everything had changed
If you break down
I'm at your shoulder
Take me at my word
You can break down
I will tell you over and over
A reliable sound is coming around
If you break down
If fear comes without invitation
and lays its head
in the green of your tired eyes
if it's paralyzing
I will wake you
We will walk a thousand paces
walk away, walk away
till you are walking on your own
And if you break down
I'm at your shoulder
Take me at my word
You can break down
I will tell you over and over
A reliable sound is coming around
If you break down
A reliable sound,
I'm coming round
If you break down
If you break down,
Look no further
Take me at my word
You can break down
I will tell you over and over

Day 21 - The Clash - Train In Vain
DAY 21
The Clash– “Train In Vain”
From London Calling
I can’t believe I have not picked this song yet… I am probably going to be saying that a lot over the years. *LOL*
This is probably my favorite song by The Clash. So much so that if you call me on my cell phone this is one of my ring back tones!
This song tickles me in that the lyrics are really about a failed relationship and trying to bounce back, but the music is so upbeat, fun, and danceable! It totally “clashes” between the music and the meaning… never thought of that before. How appropriate!
The whole album London Calling is, obviously, an amazing piece of art as a whole, but this song has always stood out among the other tracks to me.

Day 20 - Peter Frampton - Baby I Love Your Way
DAY 20
Peter Frampton– “Baby I Love Your Way”
From Frampton
So today’s selection is very special to me as today is a very special day. And it only seemed natural to pick this song as it has been running through my head all day long..
You see today is my and Glenn’s 11th wedding anniversary. And this song, Baby I Love Your Way by Peter Frampton, is our song.
There are so many wonderful memories I can think of associated with this song… Glenn and I spontaneously dancing when we hear it come on the radio… harassing our good friend and DJ, Terry Holiday (R.I.P.), and asking him to play and dedicate this song to each other all the time especially in the beginning of our marriage… having our good friends Monte and Doug try to play this song especially for us one evening at The Shore Lounge in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, even though they had never really tried to play the song together… lots of fun memories.
It is so neat to me that a song that was created before I was born could speak to my musical and emotional senses so much. That is what I love about music, it is timeless...
Glenn and I had such a nice anniversary. No special plans, just window shopped and then made an unexpected but fun purchase of anniversary gifts for each other. Glenn bought me my first guitar to start learning on. A beautiful plum color acoustic/electric Ibanez. And for him I purchased a burgundy/red Ovation acoustic/electric guitar. They were both on AMAZING specials and so it was a deal we could not pass up…
So now we will really be able to make beautiful music TOGETHER! (Once I get better on it, that is…)
So happy anniversary my sweet! I look forward to many many more happy anniversaries with you.

Day 19 - feist - Mushaboom
DAY 19
feist– “Mushaboom”
From Let It Die
I was just introduced to this song today. Glenn set up the YouTube video for me before I left for work because he just knew I would love it… he was right… it is so cute and fun, but it has this artistic creative edge that sets it apart from a typical “Rachael-happy-song.”
The lyrics I almost interpret as a take on how life should progress, but it is hard to say. This song is not one to be over analyzed, just enjoyed. Probably best enjoyed with a HUGE glass of ice tea on a warm sunny day laying in some soft green grass while breaking clouds apart in your mind. Good times.

Day 18 - The Moody Blues - New Horizon
DAY 18
The Moody Blues– “New Horizons”
From Seventh Sojourn
This song is just a GREAT song. It has passion, it is exquisitely written, and it has mystery… It is one of those songs that you just do not know what it was REALLY written about. You can assume love and maybe some tragedy, but they really left this open for the listener to interpret.
The guitar solo 2 minutes and 38 seconds into the song sounds like a desperate crying. This adds so much to the general feel and momentum of the track. The Moody Blues have a way of taking you emotionally to so many different places in their musical arrangements.
New Horizons is one of those songs you can just cry and fall apart to or make mad passionate love to. Amazing.

Day 17 - Tenacious D - Tribute
DAY 17
Tenacious D – “Tribute”
From Tenacious D
I am choosing Tribute today by Tenacious D as I am a little fired up about these two chaps.
Glenn and I went to see “Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny” tonight. (We HAD to go on opening night as out friend, Liam Lynch directed it. You gotta support your friends. Plus we are both TD fans so there ya go.)
I loved the movie. I “got it.” Totally the kind of humor I can understand and appreciate.
Tribute is obviously a big part of the film’s overall story line. It is just a fun, over exaggerated, rock song! TD is all about the rock, the fun, and not taking shit too seriously. LOVE IT.
I could not decide between pics for today’s choice so I am putting my fav pic of Jack Black and Kyle Gass at the top, (a pic from the video for Tribute), and then the actual TD album cover... cuz I can!

Day 16 - Tiny Robots - Mountain Home
DAY 16
Tiny Robots – “Mountain Home”
From Tiny Robots
Today’s choice is one of my favorite bands that is made up of 3 of the most amazing people on the face of the Earth.
Erin Lyman: vocals/accordion
Sam Douglass: guitars/keys/vocals
Ken Mahru: drums/keys
What an amazing trio! Glenn introduced me to Tiny Robots.
The first time I heard Erin’s voice I was addicted! I thought it was Julianna Hatfield at first.
Erin is a GODDESS! I have always said that and will always say that. Sam is such a talented song writer and musician. He is so soft spoken but this man is a rock star. Ken is... well... KEN, what more can I say?!?! (see day 8’s selection. I go on and on.)
Having the pleasure of meeting Erin and Sam for the first time in August 2006 at Song Fight Live in Santa Cruz, CA., was such a treat! I had met Ken before a few times and he is just as amazing, (again, see Day 8’s selection.), and it was GREAT to reunite with him in Santa Cruz as well.
This specific song features a lot of my favorite style’s and sounds that are created in Tiny Robots. Genuinely GREAT music by genuinely GREAT people.
THAT my friends is what making music is all about… honesty and making music because you love it and would do it for free forever because you can’t live without it.
These are the people I crave to have in my life forever.

Day 15 - Paul Westerberg - We May Be The Ones
DAY 15
Paul Westerberg – “We May Be The Ones”
From Stereo
I have chosen one of my favorite Paul Westerberg songs today from one of my favorite Paul Westerberg albums. Stereo. Paul is another one of those artists who is perfect because of the imperfections in his recordings. But his lyrics and story telling to me are flawless.
This is a man with more heart and soul and genuine composition than a lot of musicians and songwriters in the world today. Paul is raw even after being in the business for years.
In truth I had known very little of Paul’s music until about 2001 when a co-worker of mine and Glenn’s introduced us to a lot of the material Paul created with The Replacements. We have both been avid Paul fans ever since. This song is actually one I LOVE to hear Glenn sing and perform. He is very reverent to the style and passion with which Paul wrote this song.
I think this song tells a story about us all in one way or another. It definitely embodies the uncertainty I have felt with my life’s direction at times.
We May Be The Ones
I wanna know
I wanna know
I wanna know
I wanna know
Was the garage your playground
Your pool a hose
Did you piss in the alley
and get your toes caught
In the spokes of a bike with a banana seat
Did you carry a knife that was rusted shut tight
You got drunk after church at 13
We may well be the ones
To set this world on its ear
We may well be the ones
If not, then why are we here
I wanna know, I wanna know
The sweet smell of candles burnt low by young women
Alone on their own for the very first time
Under posters of rock stars that you vaguely resemble
In front of a cat a responding "Perhaps"
Means that you'll be the next one in line
We may well be the ones
To set this world on its ear
We may well be the ones
If not then why are we here
Why the hell then are we here
I wanna know, I wanna know
You may well be the next one
Someone sell me a handgun
Goodbye Ma, I'm done for
It's the law, tell me what for
I wanna know, I wanna know
Smoke cigarette butts
from your brother's green helmet
He wore in that war once
where everyone lost
And they taught him to pour coffee and napalm
And traded his storm for an intense calm
That just won't let him be
We may well be the ones
To set this world on its ear
We may well get it done
Why the hell else are we here
We may well be the ones
To set this world on its ear
We may well be the ones
If not then why are we here

Day 14 - Jack Johnson - Never Know
DAY 14
Jack Johnson – “Never Know”
From In Between Dreams
So I missed yesterday’s song, and true to the unofficial rules of the quest for our top 10,000 songs I will NOT be picking two songs. No I merely have to venture my quest one day longer. Ah well… such is life.
So what to do, what to pick? I have the remedy! I must pick a song that is doubly cool! Ah ha! *LOL* Well, at least that makes me feel better about missing a day…
So I choose Never Know by Jack Johnson. I absolutely fell head over heels with this song the first time I heard it over at my friend Nelle’s place. She actually brought her copy of the CD along with her and me yesterday as we had our “girl’s day out.” As we traveled between the beauty salon, the beauty salon shop, bath & body works, and such we jammed out to the entire CD of In Between Dreams. Although I very much love everything on the disc this song really sticks out as stellar in my mind.
I think I drove Nelle crazy playing Never Know over and over again, but she loves me and understands my weird obsession with certain songs that make me insanely happy... I did the same to Glenn today with this song as we were running errands.
Oddly enough it is the actual music and arrangement in the song that romances me the most. Usually it is the lyrics that get me.

Day 13 - Lemonheads - Frank Mills
DAY 13
Lemonheads – “Frank Mills”
From It’s A Shame About Ray
My pick for today is a short but awesome song. I love the perfect imperfections of this track. Nothing really rhymes at all, but it is a very descriptive and cute story.
In truth the album It’s A Shame About Ray is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. I bought the CD when it was a brand new release and I was hooked. I can still, 14 years later, listen to that full album and love every minute of it. It is very “me” music.
There is something to be said for those fun short songs.
I met a boy called Frank Mills
On September twelfth right here
In front of the Waverly
But unfortunately
I lost his address
He was last seen with his friend,
A drummer, he resembles George Harrison of the Beatles
But he wears his hair
Tied in a small bow at the back
I love him but it embarrasses me
To walk down the street with him
He lives in Brooklyn somewhere
And wears this white crash helmet
He has gold chains on his leather jacket
And on the back are written the names
Mary
And Mom
And Hell's Angels
I would gratefully
Appreciate it if you see him tell him
I'm in the park with my girlfriend
And please
Tell him Angela and I
Don't want the two dollars back
Just him!
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!

Day 12 - Ben Folds - The Luckiest
DAY 12
Ben Folds – “The Luckiest”
From Rockin’ The Suburbs
So Glenn brought this song up tonight, and it reminded me how much I love this song. I cry EVERY time because it really describes how I feel for my hubby… I have to post the lyrics because that explains the power of this simplistic song:
I don’t get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I’d been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I’d be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there’s an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I’m sorry, I know that’s a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
The last verse is the one that gets me. Again that kind of love two people can share that is so strong the other could literally die from a broken heart.
This is why I always tell Glenn we have to go together. Neither of us want to think about living without the other.
Ben Folds is such an amazing song writer and performer. I would recommend that people listen to as much of his music catalogue as possible. The story telling is very fun and deep and the song structure and musical ability is among the very best in my opinion.

Day 11 - Outerstar - You Love It When it Rains
DAY 11
Outerstar– “You Love It When It Rains”
From Outerstar
You Love It When It rains… this song struck a cord with me the very first time I heard it. MAGIC! Oddly enough it was almost eerily reminiscent of Glenn’s and my courtship in the story line of the song.
The first thing being I truly do love it when it rains. I have always been a rainy day girl… maybe something to do with being a Wednesday’s child… who knows… anyway… the description of the conversations and things of that nature really reminded me of times when Glenn and I would talk on the phone or go out to a 24 hour restaurant and just talk for hours and hours… very good memories and good times…
Simple, fun, kicky… it just works for this song. At least it does for me.

Day 10 - Indigo Girls - Heartache For Everyone
DAY 10
Indigo Girls– “Heartache For Everyone”
From All That We Let In
Day 10! As Glenn said to me a little earlier, welcome to the double digits!
I picked this track as Glenn and I were driving back from the Spokane Valley from visiting briefly with our friends Tony & Chris.(Two very awesome people.)
I am not really that familiar with a lot of the Indigo Girls material which I am starting to feel like is a shame as a lot of what I HAVE heard is very appealing to me.
Oddly enough I could totally see Roger Joseph Manning Jr. doing a cover of this song. It has that Imperial Drag/Jellyfish vibe going on.
This song puts such a quirky positive twist on failed relationships. It captures what all of us have or will experience (most likely) in our life time of love and heart break.
Thoughtful, intriguing, and it has a nice beat I can dance to. Works for me. ;)

Day 9 - Chris Rice - Lemonade
DAY 9
Chris Rice – “Lemonade”
From Amusing
I chose Lemonade because it is a song that cheers me up when I am feeling down. It is so fun and upbeat.
It makes me smile.
Chris has a very pleasant voice and the lyrics are so descriptive and fun.
“I think we’ll need another straw….” That is one of my favorites for sure.
Good stuff.

Day 8 - ken's super duper band 'n stuff - Sounds of Chrysler
DAY 8
ken's super duper band 'n stuff – “Sounds of Chrysler”
From "Notes of Hope: A Benefit for Brian & Alex" CD
My choice today is one of my favorite songs of all time that was written and performed by a very close friend of mine. Ken IS the one and only original and consistant member of ken’s super duper band ‘n stuff. He is not only one of the sweetest, most generous, kind, and fun people I have had the great fortune of meeting and knowing, but he is also one of the most talented musician/singer/songwriters I know as well. Ken is all about being honest and genuine which shines through in all of his music and makes you want to be his friend.
Sounds of Chrysler will always stick out for me because the first time I heard it I HAD to hear it over and over again. It is an easy to relate to song as we have all “been there” in one form or another. I love the use of the original Chrysler car voice too as Glenn and I used to own a 1987 Chrysler New Yorker that had the voice box in it... It reminds me of those days... “A door is ajar”... “Your fuel is low”... “Your headlights are on”... “Your oil pressure is low, prompt service is required.” We thought that was a pretty snazzy feature a decade ago! We got lots of laughs from it for sure!
Sounds of Chrysler is a very therapeutic song for me. One of those songs that is awesome to just drive around and listen to. Love it.

DAY 7
Queen – “We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions”
From “News Of The World”
A quick, but sentimental review of today’s pick
I love Queen, but this song spoke to me today as I had the pleasure of taking my nephew to a hockey game tonight and, as at many sporting events, they played the classic “We Will Rock You.”
It was so much fun to get to watch my nephew stomp and clap and root for the local team.
It was a very fun day that I will not soon forget. I so treasure these moments.
The Spokane Chiefs beat the Tri-Cities Americans 3 to 2.

Day 6 - White Zombie - Black Sunshine
DAY 6
White Zombie – “Black Sunshine”
From “La Sexorcisto”
I struggled between this track and Thunderkiss ’65, but ultimately this track won out over the other because of Rob Zombie’s super sexy speaking part at the beginning and at the end of the track. I am a weird girl. I think Rob Zombie is one of the hottest men on the planet, (2nd to my hubby, Glenn, of course!)
Black Sunshine speaks to my inner rocker chic. *LOL* Crunchy guitars, masculine vocals, KILLER bass line, and singing about a cool car! That is just HOT!
I had great times cruising around in my electric purple 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais blaring this album and feeling like a bad ass. Something about this style of music, and White Zombie/Rob Zombie specifically that makes me feel in control and hard core. Of any of my heavier style albums that I adore 9 times out of 10 I would pic a Zombie album first to listen to almost every time because they are my fav.
I really like how Zombie brought out this theatrical/industrial edge to the heavy chunkier metal. It is danceable and moshable!
Oddly enough, if I had heard the earlier White Zombie albums first I don’t think I would have been as big of fan… Some people think that is their best stuff, but La Sexorcisto catapulted them to stardom and to the top of my metal music list for sure.
Good stuff.

Day 5 - The Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup
DAY 5
The Fountains – “Build Me Up Buttercup”
From “Build Me Up Buttercup” (1968)
Build Me Up Buttercup.
Here is a special song that may not be the most genius, it may not be the most intricate, it may not even be that good. But this song makes me happy because whenever we listen to it with close friends EVERYONE sings, whether they love or hate it! It is a very fun song to have randomly come on the radio and INSTANTLY everyone breaks into song!
It is really kind of amazing; because nearly all of my friends who participate in the group sing along would never listen to this song for the simple listening pleasure… it is all about the fun.
This song was a classic among our crowd of friends long before it found its way back into the “main stream” audience on the coat tales of certain popular movies. (There’s just something about that…) *LOL*
So my love for this song is as simple as it is silly… good memories of good times with my friends who are not too inhibited to be silly.
Build on buttercup! Build on….

DAY 4
John Mayer – “Waiting On The World To Change”
From “Continuum”
So this may not seem very "Indie" of me.... and quite frankly I don't give a damn. :)
I ADORE this song. This is the kind of song my hubby, Glenn, refers to as a "Rachael Happy Song." The kind of song that I CAN NOT HELP but get up and start grooving to. At home, in the car, in the shower, wherever. This song just hits a happy button within me and I have to smile and dance or at least bob my head just a bit.
I do like the message in the song. Sure it may be a little obvious or whatever, but the song is really enjoyable and good.
It is funny, because I wanted SO BAD to like John Mayer when I heard his first album, but I just couldn't warm up to him. His song "Your Body Is A Wonderland" just rubbed me the wrong way. I loved the song but every time he sang "Your body is a wonderland..." I cringed. Just NOT my thing.
This newest album, "Continuum" is amazing though. I can put the CD in and listen to it front to back without the urge to switch to something else, which is a big deal for me.
I especially like in the CD liner notes how he says, "If you're reading this with an instrument in your lap - get to work, and deep in it. We all need you."
That is class.
I believe this young man has a lot to offer and is evolving into a legend should he make his decisions wisely.

Day 3 - Heart- Move On
DAY 3
Heart – “Move On”
From “Jupiter's Darling”
I am choosing Heart's Move On as my next choice as these ladies never cease to amaze me. First of all Anne Wilson is a living breathing goddess to me. This woman can rock just as hard if not harder than any man I know. I grew up on Heart. They have always been one of my favorite bands.
I first heard Move On at my first Heart concert, I believe in 2004, (just before the release of Jupiter's Darling which was in June of 2004.) Let me tell you, if there was ever a question of whether or not these ladies could still rock the stage, all doubts would have went out the window at that moment. Mike Inez played bass and Gilby Clark was sharing the guitar responsibilities with Nancy. Getting to hear that song live was such a rush... and a confirmation that these women have so much left to contribute to the history of rock and roll, and truly to their own legacy as one of the most amazing female bands/performers of all time. They did not call them Little Zeppelin for nothin'!
Move On is a true rock song. Straight forward. In truth I never pay as much attention to the lyrics on this one as I do the music. Anne's voice is so powerful, tight, and amazing you almost hear her as more of an instrument than a vocal.
She is my idol and what I strive to be as a lead vocalist myself.

Day 2 - Maktub - Just Like Murder
DAY 2
Maktub – “Just Like Murder”
From “Khronos”
Maktub. The translation of what Maktub means? "It is written."
If you have never had the pleasure/privilege to hear this band play live or otherwise you are a musically deprived life form. :)
This Seattle born band is truly amazing, unique, and some of the most funky, soulful, ROCK I have heard in a LONG time.
The first time I heard Maktub I was at The "Pig Out In The Park" here in Spokane, WA. We caught the last 4 or 5 songs of their set and I was hooked just that quick! Not only was I mesmerized by the music and stage performance, but also by Reggie Watts ultra fantastic afro!!! We bought their CD very shortly thereafter.
I have selected Just Like Murder as my song of the day, because it was the song that really stuck out to me during the live performance and it just fits my mood today. I absolutely ADORE this track in every sense. It is another twist or outlook on the interpretation of love. It explores a much more deep almost dark side of loving someone so much you feel like you truly would die without them.
"I hope you'll stay, because when you take your love away from me, I swear, it's just like murder..." That is a POWERFUL lyric... Really think about what that means. If you have ever been truly and completely in love AND committed to another human being I know you can relate. It is not about being dependant on someone else for your happiness, or having that person right there with you all the time, but about KNOWING that the person you love will always love you back no matter how bad life gets. Feeling so strongly for another human being that you feel like your life would end without knowing they will be there. That is a mind boggling realization when you are in a relationship. That is how I interpret the song.
I love how this song starts out so quiet and small, and then it builds and builds and suddenly explodes! Just like falling in love... What really drives the song home is how Reggie's rich vocals carry the song through on the back of raw rock guitar riffs.
In my opinion, any rock album collection is severely lacking without the presence of Khronos by Maktub.

Day 1 - Ellis Paul - Here She Is
DAY 1
Ellis Paul – “Here She Is”
From “Stories”
So I have decided to follow my sweet hubby, Glenn's lead and start a top 10,000 list of my favorite songs as well. Mainly cuz it is going to be a fun thing for he and I to talk about day to day, and also cuz I think it will be fun to look back on for years to come. :)
So, naturally, my first choice is an Ellis Paul song. My musical hero. The song "Here She Is" is not only one of the most well written and descriptive songs I have ever heard, but also one of the most TRULY romantic songs I have ever heard. Combine those elements with the passion of the vocal and the genius exposed in the music arrangement and you have one of my favorite songs in existence. I am a sucker for an acoustic ballad, which is no mystery. :)
This song brings special memories to me... dancing with my hubby in the living room for no reason... my hubby telling me this song reminds him of me... we girls love that mushy stuff! :)
I think this song is one of my favorites because I can relate to the story in a lot of ways... the description of the female in the song reminds you of why your significant other's imperfections are in many instances the very character flaws that make them perfect to you. THAT is a beautiful thing. :)
